Description
As an Applied ML Engineer in the Software Localization team, you will join a passionate team of engineers to design, implement, and qualify localization features across various Apple products. You will help architect the future of localizing ML models and machine translation, ensuring Apple and third-party developers can deliver top-tier software to users worldwide. Your responsibilities include :
- Leading exploration and application of Large Language Models (LLMs) for translation tasks
- Translating cutting-edge research into practical, high-quality systems and models to enhance machine translation
- Engaging in all aspects of model development, from ideation and training to deployment
- Collaborating with translation, localization quality, project management, and engineering teams to develop ML solutions
- Developing and maintaining tools and frameworks to facilitate software translation
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with Machine Learning, especially Large Language Models (LLMs) and Natural Language Processing (NLP)Strong programming skills in Python, C, C++, or similar languagesPreferred Qualifications
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, AI, or ML (or equivalent experience)Ability to translate research into consumer productsExperience with fine-tuning and training modelsAdapting pre-trained LLMs for downstream tasksProficiency with open-source ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, OpenNMT)Additional Requirements
Experience in software localisation and internationalizationKnowledge of localisation standards and technologies (Unicode, XLIFF, ICU, etc.)Native-level proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking foreign languagesExperience with scripting languages (bash, Ruby, Perl)Knowledge of Computational LinguisticsPublished research in ML or AIExperience with Xcode for Apple platformsProficiency in Objective-C and SwiftFamiliarity with Apple APIs (SwiftUI, Foundation, etc.)Interest or experience in languages and culturesAbility to work cross-functionally and cross-culturallyJ-18808-Ljbffr
