Description

We are seeking a Head of Biogas to lead the development and expansion strategy of the company in the biogas sector in Spain. This role involves identifying, evaluating, and executing biogas projects, ensuring their technical, financial, and regulatory viability.

The successful candidate will lead greenfield development of biogas and biomethane assets and will play a strategic role in establishing the company as a leader in renewable gas and circular economy solutions within the Iberian market.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director based in the UK, key responsibilities include :

  • Defining and implementing development strategies in Spain's biogas sector.
  • Securing viable locations and strategic opportunities for new projects.
  • Establishing bankable feedstock and digestate arrangements.
  • Leading permitting processes, including licenses and land agreements.
  • Ensuring project feasibility across technical, financial, environmental, and regulatory aspects.
  • Managing project pipeline from early development to construction.
  • Building relationships with partners, authorities, suppliers, and communities.
  • Overseeing due diligence, financial structuring, and ESG compliance.
  • Building and preparing the development team and projects for construction and operation phases.
  • Representing the company in sector associations and events.

    An international investor and operator in renewable energy, committed to accelerating the energy transition through solar, wind, and waste-to-energy projects.

    Requirements (M / F / D)

  • Engineering university degree.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
  • At least 10 years of experience in biogas or renewable / infrastructure project development, especially greenfield projects.
  • Experience with IPPs, investment funds, or international developers.
  • Deep knowledge of Spanish and European waste, biomethane, and renewable energy regulations.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
