Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior 2D Concept Artist with a strong artistic vision and a proven track record in visual development for games, film, or animation. In this role, you will be responsible for creating exceptional concept art that defines the look and feel of characters, environments, props, and other visual elements. As a senior artist, you will take ownership of major visual aspects of the project, mentor junior team members, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive the creative direction forward.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Create high-quality, imaginative concept art for characters, environments, creatures, vehicles, and props.
  • Drive the visual development of key project areas, contributing to and helping shape the overall art direction.
  • Develop mood boards, color scripts, and style guides to support visual consistency and creative alignment.
  • Partner closely with Art Directors, Game Designers, 3D Artists, and Animators to ensure artistic intent is preserved through production.
  • Provide clear visual direction and feedback to support the successful execution of concepts in 3D or animated form.
  • Communicate effectively across disciplines to ensure concepts meet narrative, gameplay, and technical needs.
  • Take ownership of visual areas and iterate based on feedback from directors and stakeholders.
  • Review and critique work of junior and mid-level concept artists, helping them grow and stay aligned with project goals.

4. Mentorship & Quality Oversight :

  • Mentor junior concept artists and help uphold the overall artistic quality and consistency across the team.
  • Lead by example in maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and creative excellence.
  • 5. Visual Storytelling & Communication :

  • Use strong storytelling skills to convey narrative, mood, and functionality through visual design.
  • Ensure all concept work supports world-building and helps immerse the player / viewer in the story and environment.
  • 6. Style and Aesthetic Consistency :

  • Champion and maintain the established visual style, contributing to style evolution as needed.
  • Create visual documentation and asset guides for use by internal and external teams.
  • Stay current with visual trends, industry benchmarks, and emerging tools to push the artistic boundaries.
  • Gather relevant references from culture, history, nature, and media to inspire innovative and grounded designs.
  • Key Skills and Requirements :

    1. Experience :

  • 5+ years of professional experience as a Concept Artist, preferably with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong concept work across characters, environments, props, and mood / atmosphere.
  • Experience working on at least one shipped title or completed film / animation project.
  • 2. Technical Proficiency :

  • Expert-level proficiency in industry-standard tools (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate).
  • Understanding of workflows and collaboration with 3D artists; familiarity with tools like Blender, ZBrush, Maya is a plus.
  • Strong grasp of design principles including composition, lighting, anatomy, architecture, and perspective.
  • 3. Creative Vision :

  • Ability to drive visual concepts that are innovative yet practical within production constraints.
  • Strong world-building skills, able to translate abstract ideas into tangible visual directions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to lead initiatives independently.
  • Capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • 5. Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Game Design, Animation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Preferred Attributes :

  • Experience in game development pipelines and engine familiarity (e.g., Unity, Unreal).
  • Knowledge of storytelling and cinematography principles.
  • Understanding of the full production lifecycle from concept to final asset.
  • Passion for games, visual storytelling, and immersive world-building.
