Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assistant Laundry Masters are a vital part of the management of the shipboard laundry facilities. They must possess an adequate degree of technical proficiency, the ability to lead, manage, and direct crew members working in the laundry, assess methods and procedures, have knowledge of equipment and supplies, and exercise good judgment on corrective programs.
The Assistant Laundry Master is accountable to the Laundry Master and ultimately the Executive Housekeeper for the day-to-day supervision of the shipboard laundry facility.
The Assistant Laundry Master must have the ability to problem-solve operational issues or guest-related situations.He / she must ensure the operational needs are met from a laundry perspective, including but not limited to bed linens and towels for housekeeping, tablecloths and napkins for Food & Beverage, and washing, ironing, and dry cleaning for all crew, staff, and officers.Liaise with Laundry Master, Executive Housekeeper, and Facilities Manager to proactively maintain equipment as part of a preventative maintenance program, ensuring repairs are completed in a timely manner.Coordinate with all divisions to ensure proper sorting of linen before it reaches the laundry; linen must be free of garbage and sorted by color.Assist Laundry Master in checking finished products at the end of each cycle to ensure desired results.Inspect dryers daily to ensure they are free of lint and operating within the correct temperature range.Coordinate with the Laundry Master to ensure daily inspections of equipment to maintain optimal operation and water temperature.When assigned, submit a copy of the daily inspection report to the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.Coordinate cleaning of non-logo uniforms between Linen Keeper and crew members; charges may apply if items are verified as uniforms by the Laundry Manager.Resolve laundry problems in coordination with the Laundry Master and escalate to the Executive Housekeeper as needed. Own guest concerns to ensure maximum satisfaction.Oversee the setting of formulas and cycles for different linen types and soil levels.Ensure all areas and equipment are kept clean, sanitized, and organized.Hiring Requirements :
