We are convinced that various central banks will introduce a digital version of their currency, a so-called Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), in the coming years. This will create an entirely new market for products and services that fit perfectly with Giesecke+Devrient's product portfolio. For this, we have set up a team as an independent start-up within G+D advance52 GmbH that has a clear mission for growth and to create a substantial product business. During the next year, we are scaling rapidly to meet market demands, and central in this scaling and structuring the new organizational setup is the role of the Engineering Manager.
Job Summary
The Software Engineering Manager leads multiple talented teams shaping the future of our innovative digital payments solutions! You’ll oversee the disciplinary management of engineers working on diverse components, including frontend, backend, mobile, and embedded secure elements, while fostering collaboration across departments to deliver high-impact results and ensuring industry best practices are at the core of our processes.

You will work with and report to the CTO, driving the materialization of the technological strategy and vision within the organization, while ensuring that business objectives are met.
Responsibilities
- Team Leadership : Lead and mentor cross-functional development teams, fostering collaboration and high performance.

- Recruitment : Own the hiring process end-to-end, from sourcing to onboarding, to attract and retain top engineering talent.
- Talent Development : Implement and oversee training, mentoring, and professional development initiatives for team members.
- Performance Management : Conduct regular performance reviews, provide actionable feedback, and address personnel issues proactively.
- Strategic Alignment : Collaborate with the CTO and senior leadership to align team objectives with the company’s technical and business strategies.
- Operational Efficiency : Continually optimize team workflows, processes, and tools to improve productivity, communication, and collaboration.
- Resource Management : Allocate team members and resources effectively to meet project goals with efficiency and quality.
- Conflict Resolution : Proactively identify and resolve interpersonal or workflow conflicts to maintain a harmonious work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent technical experience.Proven experience (5+ years) as a software engineer; recent hands-on experience is strongly preferred.5+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.Strong technical background; capable of earning respect and credibility with engineering teams through knowledge and experience.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; able to motivate, empower, and inspire team members.Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive team culture that values diversity, innovation, and continuous improvement.Experience with talent development, conducting performance reviews, and giving effective feedback.Sound judgment in project and resource management; able to prioritize effectively and deliver results.Skilled in process improvement and implementing best practices in software development and team operations.Adept at handling conflict resolution and managing change in a dynamic environment.Experience collaborating closely with technical and non-technical stakeholders.Preferred Experience
