Mechanical Lead Engineer

Descripción del trabajoIdentify improvements to engineering processes and prepare supporting documentation. Support Sales team during sales phase by providing technical advice, supporting estimation effort, project schedule creation, and understanding of required engineering skill set. Review As sold solution. Ensure that we have resources from the Mechanical Engineering Team with the right skill set to execute the project. Act as the main Mechanical Engineering point of contact for Project Manager, Site manager, Procurement, Manufacturing as well as client architect, builder, and design consultants. Lead project Mechanical Engineering teams through task allocation and reporting. Create and update Mechanical Engineering project status reports, financial forecasts, and schedule updates (resources updates), ensuring Mechanical Engineering cost control. Document, escalate, and manage Mechanical Engineering project risks (also preparation of P roject S tatus R eport) / P roject V ariance R equest). Ensure all project Quality Gates are met for Mechanical Engineering. Conduct regular on-site safety audits when visiting a site and advise on any special installation requirements; derive actions. Identify and propose Lean improvements. Support lessons learned sessions and project closing. Ensure that B ill o f M aterials and project procurement plan for Mechanical Engineering products has been done and ordered. Check and approve specifications for purchase items / services. Ensure quality of all necessary documentation to execute mechanical installation on site has been provided on time. Manage Completion of D esign R isk A ssessment and Safety design validation during mechanical design stage. Ensure delivery of key deliverables i.e. basic Layout, 3rd Party specs., List of static and dynamic loads, layout drawings, Hazard assessment. Ensure that check list for the mechanical installation has been done and site is ready for the next phase which is electrical installation. Ensure the correct transmittal of all Mechanical Engineering Deliverables to the Customer i.e. layout drawings. Ensure the right technical information has been provided for the Customer Service training. Ensure project technical documentation is completed. Identify improvements to engineering processes and prepare supporting documentation. Essential : Degree level of understanding in a technical Engineering discipline. Desirable : Understanding / Qualification in Machinery Safety. Experience in a similar role is desirable. Experience leading project teams on complex projects. A working understanding of technical manuals & drawings, Mechanical / Electrical. Working knowledge of ISO standards governing the automated warehouse industry. Travel approx. 15% (depends on the stage of the project) within EMEA. Good communication and English skills. Organisational and Quality Orientation. Effective and team-oriented working style. Being proactive. Understanding of MS Project, JIRA, and other project management tools. Ability to make design decisions on a project. Understand and use relevant design requirements such as the Machinery Directive and its harmonised standards. Demonstrates a high passion and drive. Ambitious and willing to go the extra mile. Takes responsibility. Demonstrates courage. Promotes change. Learns quickly. Demonstrates situational sensitivity.
The Mechanical Lead Engineer manages all engineering activities of a project related to Mechanical Design in order to ensure that relevant deliverables are in time, scope, quality and budget and adhere to established standards. The Mechanical Lead Engineer estimates and manages mechanical engineering-related project risks, owns the related planning and scheduling, and acts as the point of contact for mechanical engineering. The Mechanical Lead Engineer functionally reports to the Project Manager in the respective projects or, if appointed, to a Project Lead Engineer. In addition, the role will be involved in the full cycle of the project from sales through engineering up to hand over.
