ABOUT CRAG :

CRAG is an independent research institution engaged in basic and applied plant and farm animal sciences. It is a consortium of CSIC, IRTA, UAB, and UB, located at the UAB Campus with 200 members worldwide.

The Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG) seeks a PhD Student for the Plants Viruses group.

The candidate will be responsible for :

  • Experiments involving diagnostics and quantification of plant pathogenic viruses.
  • Inoculation procedures, including transmission via insect vectors.
  • Analysis of single and mixed infections on host plants, considering both susceptible and resistant genotypes.

These tasks relate to the project VIRTIGATION : Emerging Viral Diseases in Tomatoes and Cucumbers.

Qualifications include :

  • A degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Agricultural Sciences, or similar.
  • Skills required :

  • Experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Specific experience preferred :

  • Research laboratory experience, especially in :
  • Molecular biology procedures.
  • Phytopathology and virology protocols, including virus diagnostics and viral load quantification.
  • Management of insect vectors such as aphids and whiteflies.
