Workday Integration Specialist

Marel is undergoing a major digital transformation, with IT playing a pivotal role. Consequently, the Workday footprint is constantly expanding as we integrate new functionalities across all Marel locations. The vision is to further enhance automation, simplify processes, and streamline HR operations through Workday. This has led to a situation where we have many interesting integration projects in our pipeline for the coming years, increasing the scope and importance of the Workday system overall.

About the team

The Workday team is divided into a functional team and a technical team, forming an internationally oriented delivery team. The technical team, part of our Business Application Management department within Marel IT, is globally responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing all our Workday integrations with internal systems (, SAP) and external applications (, payroll systems).

We seek to enhance our technical team. Currently, it comprises two dedicated application specialists based in Poland. They diligently maintain smooth integrations, offering technical expertise, support, and guidance to users. Additionally, they develop new integrations in close collaboration with business stakeholders. Joining this team, you'll collaborate with stakeholders from various locations including the Netherlands, Denmark, Iceland, the US, Brazil, and other Marel branches.

What you'll be doing

As part of the Workday technical team, you will :

  • Develop, test, and deploy Workday integrations with internal systems and external applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and design integration solutions that meet their needs.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users.
  • Monitor integration performance and proactively address any potential issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, working closely with other IT teams and business units to deliver integrated solutions.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate for this position should have :

  • Workday expertise : deep understanding of the Workday platform including its architecture, data model, and different integration capabilities.
  • Integration experience : strong understanding of Workday's integration framework and templates (EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio).
  • Data transformation proficiency : experience with XSLT and knowledge of XML and JSON formats.
  • Workday payroll integration experience : deep understanding of templates like PECI, WECI, PI and preferably with a CCTPP (Core Connector Third Party Payroll) certificate.
  • Problem-solving & analytical thinking : ability to analytically assess complex integration scenarios and devise efficient solutions within the Workday environment.
  • Adaptability and continuous learning : openess to learning new tools, techniques, and best practices to adapt to changing integration requirements.
  • Collaboration and teamwork : ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams within Marel IT as well as external parties to design, develop, test, and deploy integrations with our stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance : ability to implement robust testing methodologies to ensure the accuracy and reliability of integrations.
  • Documentation and communication skills : ability to clearly document integration requirements, specifications, and configurations. Additionally, being able to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Project Management skills : ability to coordinate tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • What kind of person are you?

  • Master’s degree in information systems, or related area would be beneficial.
  • Proven track record of implementing global projects in a multinational company.
  • Great business analysis, listening and solution designing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in diverse and multinational teams.
  • Strong English skills, both written and verbal.
  • Process-oriented, organized, and attentive to quality and details.
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks through adept prioritization and get things done.
