About The Role & Team

As Manager / Team Lead, Software Development, you will manage three teams of resources (some local, most remote) that develop, implement, maintain, and support software products and applications using SITA for Aircraft engineering processes, methodologies, and technologies, in compliance with company policies and guidelines.

  • You will be accountable for the overall delivery of medium- to large-scale development, implementation, and maintenance projects that have significant cross-functional business impact, ensuring that the software applications and systems developed, implemented, and supported are aligned with the long-term goals of the business.
  • You will lead the team in developing committed estimates for projects, planning and allocating resources, making firm commitments to Project Managers, and ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • You will contribute to the development, upkeep, and maintenance of software development processes.
  • You will lead, mentor, and coach a group of development professionals, ensuring they have the requisite skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.

What You Will Do

Management Responsibilities

  • Contractor Oversight : Manage contingent workers and contractors (Statement of Work contracts), resolve team issues, and make decisions on resource balancing, hiring, or termination as needed.
  • Team Readiness : Equip teams with the tools, resources, and support necessary to ensure their success.
  • Weekly Coordination : Lead weekly meetings with technical leads, product owners (POs), and suppliers to align goals, track contractor status, and address needs.
  • Liaison Role : Serve as a technological and communication bridge between CDI, ADS, and MyFleet teams to ensure seamless integration.
  • Executive Reporting : Provide regular, strategic updates to senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment.
  • Technical Responsibilities

  • Delivery Accountability : Take ownership of delivery quality and timeliness.
  • Architecture Review : Participate in architecture reviews to ensure technical excellence and adherence to best practices.
  • Technical Involvement : Contribute to technical discussions to provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Compliance : Ensure the team adheres to architecture guidelines and security protocols.
  • Code Quality : Oversee code quality using tools like Mend and SonarQube, identifying and addressing technical debt opportunities.
  • Qualifications

    WHO YOU ARE

  • 8+ years experience in a Software Engineering environment.
  • 3+ years in people management, preferably with matrix experience in a global environment (incl sourcing and renewals of external contractors)
  • Comfortable coaching lead developers
  • Strong analytical skills to assist teams to convert scope into requirements and requirements into Epics and Stories
  • Understands the value of testing methods (unit test, integration / black box test and end to end test).
  • Understands Microservice Asynchronous structured programming
  • NICE-TO-HAVE

  • Aviation background (airline or OEM)
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Sciences or Engineering.
  • Formal training in project management preferred.
  • Kubernetes cluster and container with Docker runtime and Docker Compose
  • Kafka or other streaming knowledge (RabbitMQ)
