Job Opportunity : Brokerage Fee Strategy Legal Advisor

Location : Madrid, Spain (3 days / week in HQ office - mandatory )

Languages Required : English and Spanish

Contract Type : 3 month contract

Overview :

A leading global investment bank is seeking a highly skilled Legal Advisor to support a strategic initiative focused on optimizing inter-dealer brokerage costs across the bank's global operations. This is a pivotal role that will involve evaluating existing brokerage agreements, benchmarking fees against industry standards, and developing a negotiation strategy to reduce overall brokerage expenditure.

Key Responsibilities :

Review and assess all brokerage contracts at the global level, categorizing them by supplier and region.
Provide detailed analysis comparing current brokerage fees with those paid by peers, both in absolute and relative terms.
Leverage global brokerage volumes to drive strategic renegotiations and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Assist in developing a supplier benchmark using specialized tools to support the renegotiation process.
Consolidate findings into actionable insights and support the negotiation strategy.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and assist in drafting and reviewing documentation in both English and Spanish.

Requirements

Essential Requirements :

Legal background is mandatory with specific expertise in financial law, capital markets, or brokerage agreements.

Proven experience in negotiating inter-dealer brokerage rates on a global scale.

Strong understanding of the broker-dealer ecosystem and the broader financial services industry.

Fluency in English and Spanish , with the ability to analyse and interpret documentation in both languages.

Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Availability to work on-site in Madrid headquarters 3 days per week .

Preferred :

Experience within a global investment bank or a similar large financial institution.

Familiarity with contract benchmarking and procurement tools.

Rate / Salary to be discussed.
