About Baringa :
We set out to build the world’s most trusted consulting firm – creating lasting impact for clients and pioneering a positive, people-first way of working. We work with everyone from FTSE 100 names to bright new start-ups, in every sector.
You’ll find us collaborating shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients, from the big picture right down to the detail : helping them define their strategy, deliver complex change, spot the right commercial opportunities, manage risk, or bring their purpose and sustainability goals to life. Our clients love how we get to know what makes their organisations tick – slotting seamlessly into their teams and being proudly geeky about solving their challenges.
We have hubs in Europe, the US, Asia and Australia, and we work all around the world - from a wind farm in Wyoming to a boardroom in Berlin. Find us wherever there's a challenge to be tackled and an impact to be made.
We are looking for a Battery & Flexibility Manager to join our growing team in Madrid.
You will be joining our dynamic and growing Power and Low Carbon Solutions advisory practice. We are proud to work with the foremost policymakers, regulators, investors, developers, lenders and energy companies operating globally across the energy supply chain, to help them successfully navigate the energy transition.
Baringa is differentiated through its ability to leverage our fundamental understanding of market, technical, commercial, and regulatory drivers of value and risk to help clients develop projects, deploy capital, or launch new products and services that help decarbonize our economy.
The professionalism of our individuals, the partnership approach to engagement, and the comprehensive package have created a truly unique consultancy. We believe in genuine partnerships and create client relationships, driven by results. If you want to be part of this entrepreneurial environment and want to help make a difference to our business, your opportunity is now!
What you will be doing
You will be working at the forefront of the energy sector as part of a leading Energy advisory firm, laying on the foundations of deep industry knowledge. You will be able to deploy and then broaden your skillset as a Consultant in the Batteries and Flexibility markets in Iberia, working alongside senior industry specialists managing end-to-end client engagements, coordinating the day-to-day activities of junior members. Among others, you will carry out the following :
- Providing qualitative market research, energy market insights and stakeholder management to support the business case for batteries and other flexible assets in Iberia, ranging from available revenue streams, optimization strategies and market benchmarks.
- Performing detailed quantitative analysis on revenue perspectives across the different energy markets for flexible assets in the context of equity investments and debt raising.
- Providing strategy advice to support assets owners and traders on commercial structures, routes to market and resulting implications in business models and risk / return expectations.
- Optimizing power generation portfolios and asset dispatch, and developing hedging strategies.
- Providing advisory and support to developers, investors and lenders seeking to understand the value generated through deployment of standalone / co-located flexible energy resources.
- From our base in Madrid, closely work with our exciting global Power Market Advisory teams located across different geographies in Europe.
- Supporting business development prospects, from building our brand presence and engaging with key clients in Iberia, to identify / originate consulting opportunities and writing proposals.
Your skills and experience
We are looking for candidates experienced in the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and / or Portugal). You will be well versed in the economic fundamentals of Iberian wholesale electricity markets and ancillary services, with proven experience (5 years) in the analysis of flexible assets such as batteries, pumped storage hydro or thermal plants, gained from working with an IPP or optimizer managing storage plants, a utility / trader or a power market consultancy. The ideal candidates will experience in some of the following :
